Want to know your language profile?

(Take this test!)

But first, what are the language profiles and what standard is used to categorize them?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a widely recognized framework that provides a standardized description of language proficiency levels. It assesses and compares language skills across different languages and countries in Europe and beyond.

The CEFR comprises six proficiency levels, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced). Each level is defined by language competencies in four major skill areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These competencies include vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and the ability to communicate effectively in various real-life situations.

The CEFR offers a common reference point for language learners, educators, employers, and institutions to evaluate and measure language proficiency. It helps individuals set clear learning goals, track their progress, and determine their level of proficiency in a specific language.

With its standardized descriptors, the CEFR promotes transparency and comparability in language education and assessment. It facilitates mobility and communication across borders, enabling learners to demonstrate their language skills and qualifications in various academic, professional, and personal contexts.
